Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday convened an urgent video conference with top officials of all Indian states sharing borders with Pakistan and Nepal, just hours after India conducted precision airstrikes under Operation Sindoor.
The meeting, attended by chief ministers, chief secretaries, and DGPs from Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Sikkim, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, focused on internal security and preparedness following the strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK.
Shah instructed Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to recall all personnel currently on leave and asked border states to remain on heightened alert. Intelligence and surveillance activities are being ramped up, with border patrolling intensified to prevent any infiltration or retaliatory action.
The home minister reaffirmed the government's stand, stating that Bharat will not tolerate attacks on its people and will respond decisively to terrorism. He praised the armed forces for their swift and coordinated response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Operation Sindoor, conducted early Wednesday, destroyed nine terror infrastructure sites linked to JeM, LeT, and Hizbul Mujahideen in retaliation for the Pahalgam killings that left 26 civilians dead.
